For The Analog Player

While this game is being developed with additional functionality through the screen, you’ll play it using some old fashioned methods. First, you’ll want to keep score. This is one number tallied up each day. You could keep it on a sticky note, like so:

Or you can keep your score in a running daily log online, like I do in Notion:

You will record a series of attributes and outcomes on Role cards that will develop over the course of the game. An example could be another sticky note:

Or you can create these cards with software like Word or Powerpoint, print them out and have nice images and other features on them. Here is my card that is the Role I play as I create this game:

It is not necessary to have them printed, sticky notes or slips of paper are fine. Choose your level based on your preference. During the game you will be provided with additional cards for more nuanced game play. Like so:

If you don’t have access to a printer, you will be instructed on how to create them easily. Here are those same cards:

HOW TO PLAY

Each morning you will pull out your set of cards and listen to a parable that sets the tone for the day. Your set might look like either of these:

You will receive instructions on how to alter, or change your cards. Or you might just be inspired to edit them on your own. You’ll work on these cards through the day and through the game.

At the end of the day, you will take all of your cards and pull out those cards in which you took an action during the day. For example, if I had a chance to cook and to do some writing, I would pull out my cooking and writing cards:

I then count the cards, and increment my score card by the number of cards. In this case, I started the day with 6 points, I have 2 cards played, resulting in a final score of 8.

This simple tracking enables you to play the game. Coming (relatively) soon the game will have functionality to create and play cards virtually.

Until then, we’ll use this analog system to enjoy The Eudaimonia Game; From Role to Player! Enjoy!
